1. What is this? Why am I here?
I don't know. Why are you here?
2. Why is there such a restriction on images?
I want this to be a basic board. A board that anyone with any type of connection can use. The more images I put up the more those with bad connections have to wait. Too much imagery can also make things tacky. As the site progresses I may decorate further but for the time being I want to keep things simple.
3. 200 words? That's the minimum? Are you crazy?
No... Well yes I am crazy but that's not why I have such a low word count. I want to encourage people of different levels to join. As more people join I will include classes and raise the word count to the needs of those who stick around.
4. I've never read the books or seen the movie. Can I still join?
Of course you you can. Just make sure you check out the information I've given you. That should be enough. If you start with a first year character you'll learn a lot about the spells, potions and schooling.
5. How do I get to the FAQ?
I... uh... Are you legit?
6. Are there going to be major plots and Canon characters?
Major plots? Yes. Canon? Maybe. You'll have to wait and see.
7. Why are there no Face Claims? No pictures?
Because I really dislike them. Takes the imagination out of things. Also it means more work for me. I know, I'm lazy. If you wish to provide a picture of any kind to go with your character it's fine. I just don't think it should be mandatory practise here.
8. Do the houses mean anything? If so what to the houses mean?
They do. I didn't just pull any old names out of a hat. I did my best trying to keep names and languages regional (Which isn't hard as the British Isles are so close there is always an alternative parallel myth in the region) and did my best scouring the internet for the correct words. (If I actually am wrong feel free to tell me so I may make corrections)
Nathair is Snake or Adder.
Smiste is Bat
Broc is Badger
Londubh is Black bird
Not only that but the schools names mean something too.
Dwyn, according to some sources, was a Celtic god. Other sources say she was a saint but all the sources relate her to love. The perfect name for the school.
Agrona was also a regional name picked from mythology. The name is associated with slaughter, carnage, battle, war, strife and carnage. It seemed appropriate.
9. Why haven't you got any house points system or money system up yet?
There is no house points system up yet because we haven't got many people in the houses. Once we reach a level that I believe points system would be beneficial we will have it. Until then we must be patient. As for money, I don't really see the point in a money system on forums. Once again I may change my mind at a later date but I feel it's unlikely.
10. I want to create a character but have no idea where to starts. HELP??
It's a fairly simple process.
Step one. Visit this link here and copy the code supplied. There are three different types of characters to create. Magical students/ ex-students, Teachers and Muggles/squibs. There are also useful links on the application that give details on the different character types, schools and houses.
Step two. Wait.
Once your character has been accepted by me or a moderator head to this link here if you are a student. This is essentially a sorting hat of sorts. As long as the house you want to be in isn't full you should be able to get your wish.
Once enrolled you can sign up for various classes at your school here. You are now able to enter most boards and start RPing!
11. Can I be Admin/Mod?
No. When a new moderator is needed I will mass PM AND put up an announcement for applications. Many things will be considered such as level of activity AND maturity. Incessant pestering will only result in undesired consequences such as banning.
12. Will there be heads of houses, prefects and stuff?
Yes. Yes there will.
13. Specialised Skill Subjects. What are they? Do they serve any higher purpose?
Specialised Skill Subjects are simply classes that are exclusive to your chosen school. As for a higher purpose, Yes. Depending on which school you choose your character could be very important to the plot. Healing and Remedies can also be useful for your characters future career. But remember you don't have to choose an SSS subject.
14. I'm confused. What's the difference between Curses and Dark Spells and Dark Arts for Beginners?
To be honest, not a great deal.
Curses and Dark Spells is exactly that. It simply teaches you some of the Darker spells in the world.
The Dark Arts courses teaches you more.
It goes into great details about curses, Dark Spells and those who have used them.
And if you want the bragging rights to be the Darkest Wizard I suggest you take them.
15. I really want to take a class but one of my characters teaches it. Can I still take that class?
Sure. But you'll find it really dull and you wont receive any score on your work. If the class you're doing has an O.W.L. or N.E.W.T. that you need to take, one of our staff members can write and mark the O.W.L./N.E.W.T. instead.
16. Hogsmeade? Diagon Ally? Does this mean we might be able to go to Hogwarts?
Perhaps. I really want to. It would be great for Quidditch. But it's another of those things I want to do but really need more people, more characters. For now these places are just for off campus RP and the Plot. Now I don't want to get your hopes up but this could mean that at certain times of the year bumping into a Hogwarts student might be possible.
17. Why have Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade at all?
Many reasons. It's nice to have a familiar place. It keeps Hogwarts close and it seemed quite ridiculous to come up with a whole new set of towns and shops when Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley was so close by. Once again I'll bring up Quidditch. It would be wonderful if we could have Quidditch matches between the schools and by putting in Hogsmeade it opens an avenue I can use later.
18. Do I have to sign up to RP?
Yes and no. For most of the site you need to have an account, make a character and enrol. However, we have a guest friendly, multi-purpose board here so that if you haven't the time to keep up with posts or feel like you need more practice you can have a go there. For more information click here
19. Are you just making these up as you go along?
Yes. Yes, I am.
20.Do the skins bother you?
Yes. Yes they do. They remind me of my complete inability to put two colours together.
